London Tap Jam turns 9 years old! To help us celebrate, we have the amazing Greek tap dancer and body percussionist Thanos Daskalopoulos as our special guest host and performer! Our fantastic live band, The Michèle Drees Trio, will be back, joined by tap dancers from across the country. This is also the last jam of 2015, so get involved with your instrument/taps/voice, or just sit back and and enjoy.
From 7.15pm, Annette Walker leads the Renegade Stage with exercises for dancers new to improvisation. Bring your tap shoes and join Annette.
At 8pm the jam starts, featuring improvised tap dance and hosted by Thanos Daskalopoulos. Musicians and tap dancers are welcome to play – just tell Melody what you want to dance to.
Leading light of the tap and body percussion scene in Greece, Thanos Daskalopoulos is back in London in November! He will be teaching masterclasses, and will be our special guest host for London Tap Jam's 9th birthday!
Mentored by Heather Cornell and Max Pollak, Thanos' work focuses on the music delivered from body sounds and percussive movement, fusing and expanding to various musical styles from jazz and funk, afro and latin, to his eastern and Balkan roots.
